French Themed Cupcakes

My brief for these cupcakes was that they were for a gift for someone who was going on holiday to France and could I please make them French Themed.

Hmmm, had to think about that for a while.

Eventually this is what I came up with.

French Themed Bon Voyage Cupcakes

Turquoise Blue ‘Bon Voyage’, the French Flags and Oh La La and some mini Eiffel Towers.

Vanilla Caramel once again – these are by far my most popular flavour.

Client was thrilled therefore a job well done :)

Survivor Swamp Cake

I was recently requested to make a birthday cake for a Survivor Themed Birthday Party. My client wanted the skull of a crocodile :). Hmmm, wasn’t too sure about that so his next choice was a Swamp Cake.

Now that was doable. Especially as I had inspiration in the form of a Jungle Cake, from the one and only Cake Boss.

A few tweaks here and there and presto – a Swamp Cake.

Two Tier Survivor Swamp Cake

Complete with a croc with really big teeth, a frog, a long slimey snake and a few other bugs.

Croc with BIG teeth

The cake itself was double chocolate with chocolate buttercream frosting for the bottom tier, with vanilla with caramel centre for the top tier.

The big hug I received from my client upon delivery was all I needed to know I’d hit the nail on the head.

Thanks for looking.

A recent order for a 30th birthday party – the theme was?

So my client asked for Vanilla Caramel and Double Chocolate Cupcakes with Cowboy Toppers.

Smurfette Cake

This cake was requested (and designed by) two little boys who wanted a special cake for their mum’s birthday. The specs were colourful, flowers, pink and a Smurfette on top.

So this is what they got:

Smurfette Cake

Cake was Double Chocolate with a Caramel Cream Filling, covered in Vanilla Buttercream and then Sugarpaste Detail.

The mum, and boys, loved it and I believe that there was not one crumb of cake left – that’s good yes?

Thanks for looking.

Superman Cake

This cake was for one of my regular (and favourite) clients.

Superman. Every little boy’s superhero – yes?

Superman Cake

Again, Vanilla but this time with Caramel Creme filling and then Sugarpaste Detail.

My biggest joy when creating these cakes is the look on the kiddies faces when they open the cake box and see what’s inside – worth every minute I spend creating!

Tennis Racquet Cake

My client was a 7 year old little boy who has a great love of tennis. He decided on a Tennis Themed Birthday Party and of course wanted a Tennis Raquet Cake too.

Simply a Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting – this is my most frequently asked for flavour. It seems to be a favourite amongst moms who don’t want their kiddies eating chocolate. The strings of the raquet are royal icing and the rest of the detail is sugarpaste

The tennis ball is a giant cake pop covered in sugarpaste – yummy!

Tinkerbell Cake

My first Tinkerbell Cake – and I loved it! My client was a 4 year old who wanted any shape/flavour/size cake – it just had to have Tinkerbell on it.

Tinkerbell Cake

This is a Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Filling and Frosting. Tinkerbell and the other decor is all made from Sugarpaste.

I loved creating this cake – and I believe the mom thought it was too beautiful to cut at the party!

Thanks for looking.

Kit Kat Cake

My eldest daughter recently celebrated her 14th birthday – and this is the cake she requested. She often sits and browses my YM Facebook Page, and I think that she had seen it there.

However, she wanted it topped with Chocolate Easter Eggs as opposed to M&M’s (which it is normally topped with) as her birthday was the day before Easter Weekend.

Birthday Kit Kat Cake

As I was over the wall with a wedding order I have to admit that I did not bake the cake myself РI bought a Woolies Chocolate Sponge and simply decorated it. Unfortunately the cake was not as tall as the kit-kats used, so I had to cut them, which you can see. But she loved it Рand that is what counts the most!

I have to admit I think there was just too much chocolate!

Ben 10

Ben10 was the first Character Cake I made, and this design (created by a fellow baker friend of mine) has proven to be popular time and time again. I love this cake, and more so, love the delight on the little boys (or big!) faces when I deliver it to them.

Ben 10 Vanilla Caramel Cake

This was a Vanilla Cake with Caramel Creme Filling and frosting with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and Sugarpaste Detail.
