Beach / Fishy Cake

There is nothing than delights me more than receiving an order for a cake through word of mouth.  Which is exactly what this order was.

Summer was celebrating her first birthday – and in keeping with her gorgeous name, her mum decided that a Beach Party it would be.

Fishy Cake

I decided that simple and colourful was the way to go.  A vanilla cake (my top seller for little kiddies), frosted with buttercream and covered in sugarpaste and then decorated with a sugarpaste ‘wave’ and fishes.  Very cute but quite eye-catching.

And from what I heard, the cake was a hit :)

Jake & The Neverland Pirates

This was another first for me.  Must admit as I don’t have boys, I did have to go and do some investigating wrt this cake.

Jake & The Neverland Pirates Cake

Decided to go the simple route – I have realised that less is definately more ito cake decorating.  Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and then covered in Sugarpaste.  A Sugarpaste Jake standing atop the cake, surrounded by many gold coins, and a few lobsters for good luck (and to add some colour).

Tristan loved this cake, as did his cousin and aunt and everyone who was at the party.  And so did my 6 year old daughter.  At this stage she’s unsure if she wants a My Little Pony or a Jake Party for her 7th next year!

Chocolate Mud Cake

This cake was for a client who wanted something special to celebrate an employees 10 year anniversary with their firm.

It was supposed to have a Polka Dot Chocolate Collar, but the weather was against me. We have been experiencing extremely cold conditions here in the boonies, and the chocolate was just setting far too fast for me to finish spreading it, never mind putting it around the cake.

So i settled for Belgian Chocolate Pencils instead. And i think it looked gorgeous. Topped with handmade Belgian Choc Espresso Truffles and swirls. The cake itself was a Chocolate Mud Cake with Chocolate Buttercream.

Yummy.

Bugs & Bees Cupcakes

One of my regular clients ordered Bugs/Flowers & Bee themed cupcakes for her daughter’s 7th birthday party – which was held in the garden :)

I loved every minute of doing these – bees, butterflies and pink ladybugs atop flowers adorned these vanilla cupcakes.

Loved the vibrancy of the colours, and the simplicity of the decor.

Cowboy Cake

A *simple cowboy themed cake* was the brief for this 40th birthday cake. Nothing too flash or over the top, and maximum slices of cake required!

Hence the rectangular shaped Double Chocolate Cake, filled with Caramel Creme and toppes with Belgian Chocolate Ganache.

A giant cakepop formed the Cowboy Hat, which was then covered in Sugarpaste and decorated.  I then surrounded the cake with a ‘belt’ and buckle with his initial imprinted onto it.

And by the end of the evening there was little left – good cake, yes?
