Owl Baby Shower Cake

A good friend of mine is expecting her 3rd baby, but her first girl, so I was delighted to be asked to make the cake.

I have been wanting to use an owl embellishment for sometime, and i thought this would be perfect.

And it was.

I loved it. Simple but pretty and girly.

Hello Baby

I love doing cakes for Baby Showers – and I love doing something a little different.

This cake was a 4 layer Vanilla Cake, filled with Caramel Cream (a very popular combination).

Apparently the mum to be has a thing about pink ellies, hence little ellie on top, and I thought the bunting round the side brought it all together.

Mum to be was thrilled and said she didn’t want to cut it!

Baby Shower Cake

One of the cakes I’ve made in the last couple of weeks was this Baby Shower Cake.

It was a surprise gift to the mom-to-be, and my client and I kinda had an idea of what she wanted, but we also wanted it to be a surprise. So we used the decor for the baby shower as a starting point, and went from there.

And this was the result. A vanilla sponge with caramel and buttercream frosting, covered with sugarpaste.

The sleeping teddy ontop of the cake tied in with not only the decor of the shower, but also of the baby’s room.

Because it was for a boy, we decided on the blue sugarpaste. And can anyone resist the cuteness of a baby’s foot? Hence the footprints around the side of the cake.

I love how this cake turned out – so gorgeous but oh so simple
