Black Forest Cake

I had a request from one of my regular clients, for a ‘different but decadent’ Christmas/Birthday (her birthday falls on Christmas Day) cake.

I didn’t have to think too hard – i knew exactly what I was going to create for her:

A Black Forest Choc Cake.

Simplified version of the orginal one. Double layer moist chocolate cake, sandwiched together with Choc Ganache and cherries, topped with Choc Ganache, Choc Shavings and Maltesers.

The final touch – a wall of chocolate pencils and a pretty pink ribbon.

Ladybug Cake

A cute and fun idea for a 1st birthday cake – a small cake ‘topper’ as opposed to a whole cake, and a few cupcakes too. The ladybug theme is also an easy theme to follow and very cute – well i think so anyway.

Simply a chocolate layer cake, frosted with vanilla buttercream and then the sugarpaste red frosting. Little black dots, together with a couple of sugarpaste ladybugs complete the look.

The cupcakes are simply chocolate, frosted with green buttercream frosting to imitate grass, and a few ladybugs added – cute huh?

Chocolate & Vanilla

It is such an easy combo. But such a delicious one.

I recently had an order for a 70th birthday, and the client simply wanted Choc & Vanilla cupcakes, with Choc & Vanilla Frosting. Simple. Boring some of you may think, but to me not.

There is nothing more decadent that a rich, moist, chocolate cupcake with a big fat swirl of choc buttercream frosting. Topped with maybe a choc coated peanut or a choc button. Or a vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream. Or a choc cupcake with two tone frosting – like this.

As Oscar Wilde once said: “Simple pleasures are always the last refuge of the complex”
